Tattoo Prep & Aftercare Guide
Everything you need to know before and after your session
Before Your Session
Follow these steps to make sure your skin is in the best condition.
Skin Preparation
• Avoid sun exposure or tanning for at least one month.
• Begin moisturizing the area 20–25 days before your session.
• Hydrate daily by drinking plenty of water.
• Do not apply lotion on the day of your appointment.
Shaving & Skin Safety
• Shave the area thoroughly the day before your session.
• Do not cut or nick the skin while shaving.
• Avoid waxing the area for at least 7 days before your session.
The Night Before
• Avoid alcohol or drugs — they affect healing and increase bleeding.
• Get a good night’s sleep.
• Eat a healthy meal before your appointment.
On the Day of Your Session
• Wear comfortable clothing that exposes the tattoo area.
• Bring light snacks if your session is long.
• Arrive alone if possible — it helps maintain focus and comfort.
• Notify me in advance if you have any injuries or skin conditions.
• Avoid applying numbing products unless we decide to use them together.
After Your Session
Your healing matters as much as the tattoo itself.
First Hours
• Remove the wrap after 2–3 hours.
• Wash gently with clean hands and pH-neutral soap.
• Pat dry with absorbent towels.
First 4 Days
• Keep the tattoo uncovered in clean environments.
• Do not apply anything — just wash morning and night.
• Stay hydrated and follow a balanced diet.
Day 4 to Day 20
• Apply Lubriderm (blue cap) 3 times a day.
• Keep the tattoo moisturized but avoid overhydrating the skin.
• Protect the area if it will be in contact with tight clothing.
Peeling Stage (Day 4–7)
• The tattoo may peel — this is normal.
• Do not pick or scratch the skin.
• Avoid cologne, makeup, and wipes on the tattoo.
• Avoid the sun and swimming for at least 1 month.
• Do not wear clothing that sheds lint.
• Avoid greasy or spicy foods for 7 days.
Extra Notes
• Keep pets away from the tattoo during early healing.
• Once healed, apply sunscreen regularly — especially at the beach.
• If you have any questions, message me directly.
